the Middle Ages to the present day, spread over an area of 9,000 sq. metres with about 6,000 items on display. Apart from its collections, the museum has seven other exhibition spaces: a thematic study gallery, a jewellery gallery, a toy gallery, a contemporary gallery and the Jean Dubuffet gallery, plus the 1900 salon and the Salon des Boiseries with its woodwork collection, not to mention the ground floor nave, which houses temporary exhibitions.

Museum Les Arts Décoratifs The new Musée des Arts décoratifs reopened in September 2006, entirely renovated, with original sound and lighting as before. The museum brings together the representative productions from some of the greatest factories, artists, artisans and designers, be they cabinetmakers, goldsmiths, ceramicists, glassblowers or designers. The Decorative Arts is the only institution in the world able to pay tribute to all these names which made French styles and taste so famous: Boulle, Sèvres, Aubusson... All the trends are represented: from gothic to Louis XVI, from the Directoire to art nouveau, from art deco to design. The Musée des Arts décoratifs also has a jewellery gallery, toy gallery and a gallery devoted to Jean Dubuffet. - Mode et Textile (Fashion and fabrics). More than 81,000 works retrace the development of costume and accessories from the Regency period to the present day. The permanent collection has 16,000 costumes, 35,000 fashion accessories, 30,000 fabric pieces. These works cannot be exhibited on a permanent basis due to their fragility. They are displayed in temporary exhibitions. - Publicité (Publicity) In addition to exceptional collections of 100,000 early and contemporary posters, the publicity collections are enhanced by over 20,000 French of foreign films advertisements, more than 30,000 press advertisements, radio adverts, promotional items. These works cannot be exhibited on a permanent basis due to their fragility. They are displayed in temporary exhibitions. A multimedia library is open to all.
