Lettres et Manuscrits (Musée des)

Spread over 600 sq m in an early 17th-century residence, this museum has a collection of rare and valuable letters and manuscripts, some of which have never been seen before.
Nearly 250 original documents are on display here, including the writings and letters of General de Gaulle, Napoleon and Voltaire, a love letter by painter Theodore Géricault, a Mozart score and poems by Paul Eluard.

The Musée des lettres et manuscrits is the first of its kind in Europe. Housed in a residence dating from 1608 and covering 600m2, this museum reveals more than 250 original pieces from the monarchy to the present day. Letters written or signed by men who have made history: sheets of calculations by Einstein on his Theory of Relativity, General Eisenhower's cease-fire command of 7 May 1945, etc.
