National war memorial of the french Resistance period decorated
with 16 low reliefs symbolizing the war episodes of 1939-45.
16 Resistance heroes are buried in the crypt.
In the very fortress, 4500 martyrs were shot among which Estienne d'Orves (1941) Gabriel Péri (1941) and 5 students from lycee Buffon in Paris.
