Explore Paris at your own pace: linger in pedestrianized streets, savour a leisurely meal on an outdoor terrace, go shopping… like the Parisians.

Whichever district you fi nd yourself in, Paris is an invitation to wander around and explore. Museums, monuments, sumptuous mansions and tiny streets full of charm: whether you are walking or cycling you will discover one surprise after another.

Take a break. Do what the Parisians do! In fi ne weather, the terraces of cafes, restaurants and ice-cream makers are constantly buzzing. There are lots to choose from in Montmartre, the Marais, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, etc.

Many partially pedestrianized districts are closed to motorized traffic on Sunday, thanks to the initiative “Paris respire” (Paris breathes). You’ll discover busy shopping streets like Montorgueil and Daguerre with their market garden produce, delicatessens and gourmet bistros; Abbesses and the Marais districts are a haven for designer stores.

And if your fancy turns to shopping you are in luck as the summer sales take place in July!

Don’t leave Paris without having taken a walk along the Seine. Enjoy the islands and shady riverbanks, the famous riverside book stalls, 37 bridges and footbridges — from the classic Pont-Neuf to the modern Simone-de-Beauvoir. Or treat yourself to a view of Paris from the water with a boat trip on the capital’s river or canals!
