Paris and its exhibitions

Bon6126 Paris has always been capable of exciting attention by its constant presence at the hub of what’s happening now. The reflected glory of its major exhibitions and its talent as a host are sufficient to draw crowds from all over the world. Natural successors to the World Fairs that placed Paris at the top of the tree, its modern-day exhibitions, on a great variety of subjects, are just as likely to be major popular successes. These days, all eyes are on Paris just at the mention of a painter’s name, the theme of a show, its originality, its setting. Every day, Paris offers a huge choice of some 100 exhibitions, where it goes without saying that quality and quantity go hand in hand.

Exhibitions – a success story

DinParis is an essential port of call for the most sought-after international exhibitions. Whether or not you come here with a definite aim in mind, you have a very good chance of coming across a remarkable arts or science exhibition that will appeal to you during your stay. It has to be said that Paris has an unparalleled talent for setting the scene: always presenting the subject in the best possible light. The city’s countless museums and exhibition centres regularly pay tribute to the great art masters, this same city that has always offered refuge to artists of all horizons. In the space of 40 years, Paris has witnessed the phenomenal triumph of retrospectives of Picasso (1966), bringing together over 700 works, Dali (1979), Georges de La Tour (1998), Raphael, Rodin (2001), Modigliani (2002), Gauguin (2003 and 2004), Botticelli and Miro (2004). There are so many, it would be impossible to list them all here. Outstanding exhibitions on a specific theme are also frequent, like the 2002 show juxtaposing the work of Matisse and Picasso, for which many enthusiasts travelled hundreds if not thousand of miles. Then in another domain entirely, the travelling exhibition devoted to the Titanic in 2003 was also a smash-hit. It promised a nostalgic tour through recreations of the legendary liner’s decor, highlighting authentic objects recovered from the wreck.
