Patti Smith

Exhibitions

From 28 March to 22 June 2008
For the many, Patti Smith is a legend. No real rock child isn’t aware of this 70’s New York punk-rock muse. In a career of 30 years, the American star was sucessively a committed poet following Rimbaud and Genet, an internationally successful artist thanks to the song “Because the Night”, and since then, the must-have of the ideal rock fan... Till the 22d of June, the Fondation Cartier is presenting the public with “Land 250”, a large personal exhibition dedicated to the multiple aspects of the artist and musician Patti Smith’s artistic production. Poetry, drawings, photographs, films, and musics show the manifold artistic fields explored by Patti Smith, and her rich universe. Along with her works, some of her favorite objects from her personal archives, are exhibited (original manuscripts, picture taken by Constantin Brancusi, a stone from the river where Virginia Woolf comitted suicide...). A grand a beautiful tribute paid to the recent member of the Cleveland Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame. Don’t miss it!
